This course qualifies you to become a MHFAider® with access to a full benefits package and certificate valid for three years.  This includes:

  • Free membership of the Association of Mental Health First Aiders®

  • A digital manual for reference
  • A hardcopy workbook to use during the course.

What happens after booking:

Once you’ve booked and paid for your place, you’ll receive an automatic confirmation email from Starbuck & Associates.
Joining instructions and access details are sent automatically in your confirmation email at the time of booking. Course materials will be shared approximately two weeks before the course start date by your accredited MHFA England® Instructor.
All MHFA England® course materials are ordered specifically for confirmed learners. Your place is confirmed once payment has been received.

Booking, cut-off and cancellation policy

Bookings must be completed at least two weeks before the course start date, as MHFA England® course materials are ordered in advance for confirmed learners.
Cancellations received after materials have been ordered are non-refundable.
If Starbuck & Associates needs to cancel or reschedule a course due to minimum numbers not being met, learners will be offered a full refund or the option to transfer to a future date.

Target audience

It’s good practice to have a diverse mix of employees, at different levels, representative of your workforce. These could be HR Professionals, Managers, Wellbeing Champions, Health & Safety Professionals and/or anyone with an interest in mental health and a desire to support others.

It’s also important that those selected can maintain confidentiality as appropriate, demonstrate an ability to relate well to others, who can commit to the time required and have the support from their line manager to fulfil the role once trained.

  • Looking at mental health and the MHFA role in depth, including boundaries and confidentiality 
  • Understanding the influences of mental health including language and stigma 
  • A practical framework to guide conversations around mental health including what to do in a crisis and how to signpost to appropriate help 
  • Recognising early signs of poor mental health, mental illness and suicide ideation 
  • The importance of active listening and empathy 
  • Practising self-care. 

Duration

The course is delivered either in person over two days or online split into four half day sessions.  The training days don’t have to be consecutive but must be completed within a two-week period.
