Thursday 26 November, 6pm to 8pm
What this module covers:
- Where governance came from, from Cadbury in 1992 to the codes each sector works to now
- What a board is for: purpose, strategy, oversight and accountability
- Four roles at one table: the chair, the chief executive, the non executive and the executive director
- Eyes in, hands off, and the four places that line quietly breaks
- Your seven statutory duties, conflicts of interest, and what you are personally liable for
- The board you want around the table: skills led recruitment, diversity, succession and evaluation
- Behaviours that make a board work, the pitfalls to watch out for, and looking outward
You will leave able to:
- say in one sentence what your board exists to do and test the agenda against it
- describe where your role ends and the executive’s begins
- name the duties you personally carry
- ask a challenging question in a way that keeps the room working.
